Thermaltake’s Popcorn Machine PC Case Will Soon Be Available In A New Color - Forbes

It’s a vending machine! It’s a popcorn maker! It’s a... gaming PC?

Thermaltake’s bizarrely endearing Tower 100 mini-ITX PC case has been, at the very least, a head-turner since it launched earlier this year. With its front and side tempered glass panels and compact, vertically oriented build, the eye-catching shell more resembles a showcase terrarium for your internal hardware components than anything computer related. Reptiles and hermit crabs sold separately, of course.

The Tower 100 retails for $119.99 and is sold in several different colors, including Snow, Black, Racing Green and Turquoise. Recently though, Thermaltake announced a brand new color to add to the mix: Metallic Gold. The shiny variant is expected to be available in Q4 of 2021, at which point you’ll be able to build a close quarters PC inside the fanciest faux popcorn machine in all the land.

I haven’t had the chance to put together a PC using the Tower 100 just yet, unfortunately, but those who have seem to find the case rather appealing, both in terms of performance and aesthetics. Tom’s Hardware reviewed it back in April and, despite some subpar cable management and inconvenient build quirks, deemed the Tower 100 shockingly decent, at least in regard to thermals.

This is especially noteworthy given the cramped spaces provided for components. Granted, the Tower 100 is never going to be the coolest PC case in the world, but it’s interesting to know that temperatures can remain acceptable with creative fan placement and operation.

I’ve always been a big fan of strange and unique PC builds, and if I can snag a Tower 100 review unit in the near future, I’ll put the case through its paces and see if the excellent oddness outweighs any practical drawbacks.

Adblock test (Why?)
