Cleveland Browns Case Keenum slows down on Kyle Lauletta hype train - Dawg Pound Daily

The Cleveland Browns started their game against New York with Case Keenum under center and he showed why he’s still got a firm grip on the No. 2 quarterback spot

After a great showing in Week 1 against the Jaguars, Case Keenum made it two in a row as he led the Cleveland Browns down the field with ease on the opening drive against the New York Giants.

Following a forced punt from the defense, Cleveland took over at the 19-yard line, and Keenum promptly orchestrated a10-play drive that covered 81-yards and ended with a seven-yard touchdown pass from Keenum to wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge.

That catch came on a fourth-and-goal and made up for a play where Rashard Higgins was unable to haul in a touchdown pass on second-down.

On this drive, Keenum was 4-of-5 for 35 yards and the touchdown. He was aided by 46 yards rushing with D’Ernest Johnson running for 34 of those yards and wide receiver JoJo Natson adding a 12-yard run on a reverse.

That dominance on the ground was also encouraging considering how many backups were on the offensive line for Cleveland. That’s a huge testament to the work done by offensive line coach Bill Callahan, who is constantly one of the best in the league at what he does.

There’s been a lot of buzz lately about Kyle Lauletta, who has been great as well for the Browns in the preseason. Some have asked if he can push Keenum for the job but if this game was any indication, Keenum won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
