Case update: Arkansas COVID-19 cases increase by 242 Wednesday - Fayetteville Flyer

The Arkansas Department of Health announced that COVID-19 cases in Arkansas increased by 242 on Wednesday.

The state announced one new death as a result of the virus, bringing the total number of deaths in the state as a result of the pandemic to 5,835.

Hospitalizations went down by 11, bringing the total number of Arkansans hospitalized in the state to 190. There are 37 patients on ventilators, down 1 from the day prior.

There are currently 1,658 cases of COVID-19 considered active in the state, which includes those that have tested positive by both PCR and antigen testing methods. The ADH dashboard currently lists 94 active cases in Washington County and 126 in Benton County.

There were 1,473 PCR tests conducted in the state and 628 antigen tests.

The new cases bring the total cumulative count in Arkansas to 341,692 since the pandemic began.

The state announced that 5,817 additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, bringing the total number of doses given by the state to 1,986,807. The state lists 238,262 as partially immunized, and 907,869 individuals as fully immunized.

All Arkansans 12 and older are currently eligible for a vaccine.

The top counties for new cases on Monday were Pulaski (37), Benton (21), and Saline (18).
