UPDATE: FBI, Yankton Police announce $15,000 reward in Tammy Haas case - KTIV

YANKTON, S.D. (KTIV) - On what would have been her 48th birthday, on Tuesday the FBI and the Yankton Police Department held a news conference regarding a $15,000 reward for information that will help uncover how Tammy Haas died in September of 1992.

The then 19-year-old Haas was reported missing on Sept. 18, 1992, a day after attending a homecoming party.

Her body was found in a nearby ravine several days later near the Crofton Lakeview Golf Course in Crofton, Neb.

An autopsy revealed her cause of death was a hyperflexion of her neck.

Her boyfriend, Eric Stuckel, was charged with murder in the case in 1995, but was found not guilty.

During Tuesday's news conference, Commander Todd Brandt with the Yankton Police Department said in March of last year Haas' gravesite was vandalized.

"We remain steadfast in our efforts to find out once and for all what happened to Tammy Haas," said Brandt.

When asked what has changed in the case, Brandt said nothing has to this point.

"We are still fighting for the answers of what happened to Tammy," said Brandt. "Graciously the FBI has put up some money to hopefully jog some memories that have been held in for many years."

"Tammy's mom and her family are still without some very key answers, very long await answers to some very basic questions to what happened to Tammy that night and why did she die," said Michael Paul, FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge.

Nancy Haas, the mother of Tammy Haas, spoke briefly at Tuesday's news conference.

"I want to thank the FBI and all of the area law enforcement agencies from South Dakota and Nebraska for being here, and for your efforts to get answers," she said. "And thank you for being here on her birthday."

If you or anyone you know has information on the case, you are asked to call the FBI Sioux Falls agency at (605) 334-6881, the Yankton Police Department at (605) 668-5210, or submit a tip tips.fbi.gov.
