Coronavirus case numbers are declining — and low — across nearly every college campus in the state.
There was one notable exception: cases rose rapidly, and nearly doubled, at Idaho State University.
Here is this week’s campus coronavirus case roundup.
Increasing
Idaho State University. A second consecutive week of increases. ISU reported 36 cases for a seven-day period ending Tuesday, up from 19 cases the previous week. Thirty of the new cases involve students, and all but one occurred on the Pocatello campus.
ISU was investigating six case clusters. The largest involved nine off-campus cases, and three people living in the same household.
Lewis-Clark State College. After two successive weeks without a case, Lewis-Clark reported one active student case Friday.
Decreasing
BYU-Idaho. A sharp decrease: On Sunday, BYU-Idaho reported 27 active cases involving students and two active cases involving employees. On Feb. 11, BYU-Idaho reported a total of 63 active cases.
Boise State University. Across-the-board decreases.
Boise State reported 21 campus cases for the seven-day period ending Thursday, down from 25 the previous week. Fifteen cases involved students who live off campus, five involved students living on campus, and one case involved faculty or staff.
In all, 1.4 percent of campus coronavirus tests came back positive, down from 2.1 percent the previous week.
Seven of Boise State’s 153 isolation beds were occupied, down from eight the previous week.
North Idaho College. Four students self-reported a positive test last week, down from five cases the previous week. Since July, 289 students and employees have reported a positive test.
Northwest Nazarene University. NNU reported just one new case last week, involving a residential student. NNU reported two cases the previous week. NNU is tracking two active cases, and 29 people were under stay-at-home directives Friday.
College of Eastern Idaho. One student case reported last week. CEI reported a total of six cases the previous week, and has reported a total of 168 cases since August.
College of Western Idaho. CWI reported no new cases this week, after three cases the previous week.
Flat
University of Idaho. New case numbers remained unchanged, and low. For the week ending Feb. 12, the U of I reported again six positive test results.
Positive test rates continued to drop, falling to just 0.9 percent. The previous week, 1.1 percent of tests came back positive.
“Testing results from the past week indicate you continue to put your classmates and colleagues first,” President C. Scott Green and Provost Torrey Lawrence said in a memo to the campus community Wednesday.
Other
The College of Idaho. Two new cases last week, with one person in isolation off campus. For the school year, the C of I has reported 106 positive test results.
College of Southern Idaho. No report available.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported at least 84 K-12 cases for a nine-day period ending Sunday.
In other key metrics from the week, COVID-19 deaths and ICU admissions decreased, overall hospital admissions increased slightly and Idaho administered a record number of coronavirus vaccines.
Legislators held the bill until Feb. 25.
Elementary students in Boise will start on March 9, while secondary students will get back in classroom to start the fourth quarter.
